Shannon had had a wonderful day. Any reluctance for attending the African festival had been easily swayed by trying new things and, best of all, walking around in public while openly holding Felix's hand.

He was smiling as they arrived home and could still feel a faint tingle on his tongue from one of their more adventurous food indulgences. As the door closed behind them, he turned, taking hold of Felix's collar, and pulled him down for a kiss. The sensation and strange flavors mingled deliciously with the familiar taste of his lover.

"Join me in the shower?" he asked when their lips parted.

Shannon's passion, his mouth, the driving heat of his body... it was all exactly what Felix had wanted. Knowing that Shannon desired him still, found pleasure in him and his body still, was exactly what Felix needed. This new experience had been a process of discovery and trust for both of them, but when Shannon claimed him again, Felix knew that nothing had changed. Nothing vital. Nothing important.

Except... perhaps after Shannon dropped against him, and Felix shivered with a pleasure that had nothing to do with orgasm and everything to do with the man in his arms, one thing had changed. An aching warmth had taken root in his chest, quite unlike anything Felix had felt in more years than he could remember. He closed his eyes, his hands that had clutched Shannon's back as they made love softening, fingers slipping to stroke Shannon's hair. Whatever this feeling was, it tempted him to the core, more addicting than any drug Felix had known.

They lay for a while together, enjoying the simple pleasure of each other's company. Eventually, Shannon remembered the towel he had brought to clean Felix up with. It was lost somewhere on the bed and useless.

"We're going to need another shower," he whispered. His eyes were closed, his face buried against Felix's neck. He made no indication that this position would be changing any time soon.

"I don't want to," Felix answered drowsily, no matter that they were beginning to glue together over long lingering minutes. His legs were still loosely draped around Shannon's hips, his body open and vulnerable. Trusting. "I don't intend to let you go."

The words warmed Shannon to his core, and he smiled. "Ever?" he asked.

Felix could hear the smile on Shannon's lips, even if he could not see it. He touched a kiss to the top of the blond head tucked against his neck. "Not ever, if that's your wish," he murmured softly, as if almost afraid of his own honesty.

"It is," Shannon said, softly, but there was confidence in the words.

Felix's arms tightened around Shannon for a long moment, before his body relaxed and settled more comfortably, in case basking eventually became sleep. But he did not release Shannon, not as long as Shannon stayed in his arms.
